Terms
Last updated 28 October 2026. These terms cover NilObs at nilobs.com: SIRE 2.0 inspection prep for tanker crews. NilObs is run by Sea N Shore IT Solutions LLP, a limited liability partnership registered in India ("we", "us").
What NilObs is
NilObs is a study aid for SIRE 2.0 and similar inspections. Its flashcards, model answers, stories and AI answers are written to help you practise. They can be incomplete or wrong, and they are not OCIMF guidance. Always check against your Safety Management System, your company's procedures and the official documents. NilObs is not affiliated with OCIMF.
Your account
- NilObs is used with an account: sign in with Google or with a code sent to your email. The demo game and readiness check on the home page are open to everyone.
- An account is for one person. Keep your Google account and email secure; anything done while signed in counts as done by you.
- You can delete your account at any time from Profile & progress. Deleting it erases its credits and plan too (see Refunds).
Credits
- AI features and some content cost credits. The price is shown on the button before you tap it.
- If an AI answer fails or never arrives, its credits come back automatically.
- Credits have no cash value, can't be transferred or exchanged for money, and are only used inside NilObs.
- When they expire: a plan's monthly credits at its next refill; welcome credits after 30 days; credits earned in the app after 30 days; Voyage pass credits when the pass ends. Top-ups never expire. The credits that expire soonest are spent first.
- Free credits (welcome credits, the Free plan's monthly credits and credits earned in the app) can change or end. We'll never take away credits you paid for.
Buying credits and plans
- Prices are shown in rupees or US dollars before you pay. No GST is added: the price shown is what you pay. Payments go through Razorpay (UPI, cards, netbanking and wallets). We never see or store your card or bank details.
- Delivery: everything is digital. Credits, plans and passes are added to your account as soon as the payment is confirmed, usually within seconds. Nothing is shipped.
- Plans (Watchkeeper, Command) are paid up front for a month or a year. When you buy one you choose Pay once (the default: it simply ends, and there's nothing to cancel) or Renew automatically. Each 30 days of the plan brings that month's credits. Buying the same plan again adds time; moving up to a higher plan starts it straight away, and the months still to come on the lower plan are kept as credits that don't expire.
- The Voyage pass and top-ups are one-off purchases.
- Auto-renew (rupees only) is a subscription through Razorpay: you approve a UPI Autopay, card or bank mandate once, and the plan's price is charged every 30 days (monthly plans) or once a year (yearly plans) until you turn it off. Razorpay notifies you before each charge as RBI rules require; charges above ₹15,000 would need your approval each time. Each charge adds one more month or year to your plan. Turn it off any time in the app under Plans & credits → Turn off auto-renew: no more charges are taken, and what you've already paid for runs to its end. You can also cancel the mandate from your UPI app or bank. If a renewal charge fails, your plan waits up to 7 days for it (without that month's credits) and then moves to Free. Deleting your account turns auto-renew off first.
- Fleet plans are bought by a crew's owner for a number of seats, for a month or a year, and don't renew by themselves. Each seat gives one member the Watchkeeper plan while the fleet is paid up; members take seats in the order they joined. Someone who leaves or is removed keeps their seat to the end of the paid period. Extra seats cost the monthly price for each month left in the period. The owner gets a crew-readiness report, as described in the privacy notice.
- Every payment has a receipt under Plans & credits. It's a payment receipt, not a tax invoice.
- Refunds are covered in the refund policy.
Using it fairly
- Don't try to get credits or AI answers without paying for them, interfere with the service, or use bots to pull content from it.
- Keep names of people, ships and companies out of what you type, say or photograph, and only share debriefs you're free to share.
- Shared debriefs appear in the Inspection pulse for other NilObs users after our AI takes out names. Share only your own experience. We may remove any debrief, and you can ask us to.
- Weekly leagues rank XP earned in the app. Don't try to inflate it; we may remove you from a league if you do.
- Crews are private boards for people you invite. Share invite links only with people you want in the crew; an owner can make a new link and remove members at any time.
- Certificates of completion record self-study in NilObs from your synced progress. They aren't official, STCW, flag-state or OCIMF certificates, and mustn't be presented as one. We may withdraw a certificate earned by tampering with progress.
- Live updates are short AI summaries of public reports and news, linked to the original. They can be incomplete or wrong: check the source and your company's procedures before acting on them.
- We may suspend an account that breaks these terms. If we do, we'll refund unused paid credits unless they were obtained unfairly.
Changes and availability
We're improving NilObs all the time, so features, prices and these terms can change. Price changes never affect what you've already bought. We aim to keep NilObs running, but it may sometimes be unavailable, especially at sea without signal.
